Widows of the Word group

Amboy Baptist Church has a very special group of ladies who meet to support one another every month.

MISSION STATEMENT: John 13:34 "A new commandment I give you, that you love on another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another." We follow God's commandments and the instructions given in His Word. We are to be aware of widows in the church and community that need our help and support, sharing Jesus with love and providing hope and encouragement. While doing this, we draw nearer to Jesus Christ and each other. We will encourage them to find a home church to provide fellowship. We meet the second Tuesday of every month at noon at Amboy Baptist Church for a lunch, a time of sharing and a brief meeting. An open invitation is extended to any widow who might like to join us. You will be welcome and find some new friends who share your situation.

Meetings are held at the church at noon on the second Tuesday of every month.

Christmas Ornament Exchange

Thank you to all who came to the ornament exchange and shared a fun time together!

New Day & Time! Saturday December 10th at 11:00am

Our annual ornament exchange will now be held on a SATURDAY AFTERNOON to help ensure that everyone who would like to be there is able to join in. No more driving in the dark and rain - now you get to drive in the daytime rain!

Please join us for a fun-filled family event done in the style of “white elephant” gifting. This is probably the only time you’re going to get away with “stealing” in church!

Bring a wrapped ornament for each person participating ($5 limit, please) and place it under the Christmas tree. Then, wait your turn and choose to open a new surprise, or steal an ornament from someone else! Nobody leaves empty-handed; there will be enough ornaments for everyone. What you take home might not be what you expect!

Refreshments of finger foods along with hot and cold drinks will be served in the lobby. A contribution to the snacks or beverages is not necessary, but always appreciated.

Thanksgiving Potluck

A big, hearty THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Thanksgiving potluck after church. We are so THANKFUL to have been able to have a family Thanksgiving buffet with you!

The annual all-church Thanksgiving potluck is just around the corner! We celebrate Thanksgiving with our church family during our regular potluck lunch time after service on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. There is a sign up sheet in the foyer so that we can be sure that we hit all the Thanksgiving day classics, but feel free to bring whatever you would love to share. There is always plenty to eat, so invite a friend!

Trunk or Treat

Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who worked so hard to make Trunk or Treat 2022 a success!

We estimate that 80-100 kids came our to enjoy our carnival and Trunk or Treat event. It was a wonderful way to meet our community and invite them in to get to know us and the building.

Trunk or Treat event will be held on October 31st from 5pm-7pm at the Church parking lot. For more information, contact Joanne White or Marshelle Wood.

Movie Night is Friday September 16

Movie night is back again! We are ready to settle in, have a snack, and enjoy a show!

Admission is free and snacks are covered so invite a friend and join us as we continue to watch "The Chosen"

Sept 23-24 24hr Prayer Vigil

Thank you to everyone who participated in the prayer vigil. We hope that you were blessed during this time of closeness and communication with our Lord.

Our 24 hour prayer vigil will be starting soon!

24 Hr Prayer vigil is starting at 4pm Friday and ends 4pm Saturday September 23-24. This 24 hr period is broken into 24 one hour slots. Claim yours at church and keep the prayer going!

Operation Christmas Child

We are so excited to be collection items for Operation Christmas Child this year! Operation Christmas Child is a part of Samaritan's Purse where a small boxes of gifts are presented to children around the world and then the Gospel is shared with them. We have decided to set a goal of 120 gift boxes. If you would like to help us reach our goal, you can donate items at the church, or you can fill a box online and it will be packed by a Samaritan's Purse worker.

Wednesday Evenings are back!

We are excited to welcome back Wednesday night Bible studies. Please join us at 6:30pm on Wednesday Evening for our newest study, "Experiencing God".

This will be the same study that we are going through on Sunday mornings in adult Sunday school class. It's a great opportunity for those who are unable to make an early morning class, or those who want to review the lesson again. We can't wait to see you there!

No fellowship lunch on Easter.

We have a nursery for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers; and Children's church for elementary and middle school aged kids.

S.O.A.P is a method of Bible study that helps you to slow down and think about what you've just read and create a plan on how to live it out.

S - Scripture

Write down the scripture that you've read. Whether you write out the entire passage or just the chapter and verse location, writing things down is proven to help you remember!

O - Observations

What stood out to you as you read the scriptures? Did you think of something to look into deeper? Did you begin to ponder the meaning of a word? Was a moment in your life brought to mind? This is a place for you to jot down the things that pop into your mind as you read and reflect.

A - Application

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;" - 2 Timothy 3:16 [NASB]

There is always value in God's Word. How are you inspired to apply this section of scripture to your life today and moving forward?

P - Prayer

What is your prayer regarding this scripture today? Journaling prayers is a wonderful way to look back and see how God answers them. Write down your prayers and praises to God and you spend your special time together.

Spring Fling Craft Bazaar

Thank you to all of you who came out and helped make the Spring Fling a huge success!

April 2nd 10am – 3pm will be our first ever Spring Fling Craft Bazaar! This event is more than just a bazaar. There will be 3 different crafting classes and multiple vendors with unique items. We are excited to introduce the Spring Fling as our newest fundraising event! All of the money that the church receives from the rental of the building for the vendors and classes will go to ministries.

Classes

Classes will be held inside the church building and lead by an instructor who will bring everything you need to learn and create something new to take home.

Classes include "Paint Party", "Stick Weaving" , and "Spring Garden Propagation" . These are "Make & Take" type classes. Each participant will create a unique item to bring home (prices below).

Admission to the Bazaar is FREE. Classes have a cost per person as follows:

Prayer Vigil

THANK YOU to those who participated in our 24 hour prayer vigil!

The first prayer vigil of 2022 is coming soon. Beginning at 4pm on Friday, Feb 25th and ending at 4pm on Saturday, Feb 26th our church will be in continual prayer. This 24 hour period is split into 1 hour time slots. We will have a sign up sheet in the foyer so that you will be able to claim an hour of prayer. You are welcome to pray from home or at the church.

Valentine's Dinner at Church

Thank you to those who joined in the Valentine’s dinner!

Saturday, February 12th at 6:30pm we will be having our annual Valentine's Dinner at church. Have a family friendly dinner with your church family! This is not a potluck event; all of the food and drinks are provided. We have a sign up sheet in the foyer for families who would like join in. This is just to help us know how much food to buy. You do not need to sign up in order to attend.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR FEBRUARY

February 18th at 6:30pm - Movie night returns! Back by popular demand! Movie night will continue to show episodes of “The Chosen” beginning Friday February 18th. Movie night is absolutely free and open to everyone. Snacks and drinks are provided before the show begins. Hang out with your church family and watch full episodes of “The Chosen” on the big projector in the sanctuary. Starts at 6:30pm!
